Alkaline Q&A – have your say! (October 2021) – Dr. Sebi's Cell Food

Eating alkaline is becoming more popular and increasingly accessible. Society is finally waking up to what Dr. Sebi taught decades ago, and people are sharing the secrets far and wide!

We get a lot of questions from individuals new to Dr. Sebi’s work, and people who want to help their loved ones benefit from an alkaline diet. If you’re ready to introduce your family or friends to this lifestyle, and remind yourself too, here are your top questions answered.

“If you can’t do it for life, it’s not a lifestyle.” – Dr. Sebi.

Introducing new foods can seem daunting, especially if you don’t even know where to get them. One of the most common questions we receive is “Where can I buy the foods on the Nutritional Guide?”

The simple answer is you need to go find them! They are in ‘regular’ grocery stores (ones with fresh food) but also more specialized ethnic stores, farmers markets and whole-food stores. Many larger health-food retailers have apps or online stores so with the click of a button healthy ingredients will be delivered right to your door!

Dr. Sebi put a tremendous amount of research into developing a Nutritional Guide, to steer your food choices. This contains exactly what you need to eat, broken down into simple categories:

  • Vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Herbal Teas
  • Ancient Grains
  • Nuts & Seeds
  • Oils
  • Mild Flavors (Seasoning)
  • Pungent & Spicy Flavors (Seasoning)
  • Salty Flavors (Seasoning)
  • Sweet Flavors (Seasoning)

Study the Nutritional Guide and share it with your friends and family, make sure you try everything at least three times - we need to try new foods multiple times to adapt to new flavors and the nutritional benefits.

Detailed questions, and answers, about implementing an alkaline lifestyle:

“I’m Gluten-Free, can I have the grains?”

Yes. Amaranth, Fonio, Quinoa, Teff and Wild Rice are naturally Gluten-Free (excess sticky gluten is a modern farming evolution) most of these Ancient Grains are actually seeds. They can be purchased as a flour, grain or cereal and can be made into a meal or side dish that is very filling.

“If I can’t eat meat, where will I get my Protein from?”

Dr. Sebi’s methodology focused on the need for minerals, as those are essential for your health and wellbeing. Most people believe that the best protein comes from meat, but you can easily get enough from a plant-based alkaline diet, and have sufficient to build muscle mass. The meat and milk industry want you to think animal protein is ‘better’ than plant-protein; studies show it’s ‘better’ at making you obese and sick. Does a Gorilla look like he needs more protein? Do vegan bodybuilders look weak? The key is consuming a variety of plant-based proteins to get the full range of essential amino acids. Hemp seeds are one of the best complete proteins (containing all nine essential amino acids).

High amount of Alkaline Amino Acids are found in:

  • Avocado
  • Approved Nuts
  • Approved Grains
  • Blackberries
  • Burro Bananas
  • Cantaloupes
  • Garbanzo (Chickpeas)
  • Hemp seed
  • Leafy Greens
  • Peaches
  • Raspberries
  • Seville Oranges
  • Wild Rice

“What Can I Eat to Increase my Iron Levels?”

Dr. Sebi said: “Iron, (the lack of, deficient of,) causes 40 manifestations of disease.” We need this highly important mineral for:

  • Nourishing our cells with oxygen.
  • Transporting oxygen round the body.
  • Contributing to our cell’s electrical charge.
  • The production of bile by the liver.
  • Detoxification of carbon dioxide.
  • Regulating neurotransmitters.

Fortunately, iron is abundant in many of the alkaline whole foods found in Dr. Sebi’s Nutritional Guide:

  • Amaranth
  • Avocado
  • Berries
  • Coconut
  • Dandelion Greens
  • Garbanzo (Chickpeas)
  • Hemp Seeds
  • Kale
  • Leafy Greens
  • Quinoa
  • Olives
  • Prunes
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Spelt
  • Thyme
  • Watercress

Plants reach down deep into the earth and pull iron from the ground, Burdock was one of Dr.Sebi’s favorite herbs for restoring iron levels, you’ll find this remarkable herb in Dr. Sebi’s Bio Ferro capsules.

“If I Can’t Drink Milk, Where Will I Get my Calcium From?”

Contrary to popular (dairy-industry sponsored) opinion, milk actually (proven in decades of studies on nearly half a million people) reduces calcium in your bones and is linked to an increased risk of cancer. The more milk you drink, the greater the risk of osteoporosis (brittle bones). Milk creates mucus and is hard to digest - we don’t have four stomachs like the baby cows it is intended for! Milk creates inflammation and acid, so the body robs calcium phosphate from bone mineral reserves to restore blood alkalinity. By the way, Nut-Milk can easily replace cow milk for your favorite recipes too!
These are the best Dr. Sebi approved plant-based sources of calcium (that your body can actually absorb!):

“What Water Should I Be Drinking?”

Spring Water offers the best nutritional value and alkalizing effect of all types of water. It delivers more oxygen to the brain and body, and helps with maintaining a healthy weight and digestion. Be careful though, because more than half of all commercially available bottled spring waters are just overpriced tap water. You'll know it's real spring water because you'll feel energized when you drink it.

“Can I Cook My Food?”

Absolutely. You can cook food but also try and eat as much raw as possible and avoid over-cooking (the burnt bits are toxic, even if they taste nice):

  • Bake (oven helps flavors develop, excellent for roasted vegetables)
  • Boil (in water, keep the water for stock)
  • Broil (with a flame, reduce charring)
  • Cook (like a saucepan of delicious soup)
  • Grill (direct heat from above, no burned bits please!)
  • Steam (hot and quick, the most nutritional method)
  • Sautee (in a little approved oil, until lightly golden).

We do not recommend using a microwave because it radiates food and destroys its nutritional content. Deep fat frying is also not advised, it damages the fats and has an addictive quality – ‘fries’ can be made from vegetable strips baked in the oven and sprinkled with approved oil.

"Can I Eat…?"

If a food is not listed in Dr. Sebi's Nutritional Guide, we don't recommend it. It's as simple as that! Do you see it listed? No, don’t eat it. Yes, enjoy as much as you like!

"Does it Have to be Organic?"

Organic foods are superior in nutrition, flavor and their beneficial health effects. Non-organic crops contain pesticide residues and toxic metals that accumulate in the body and deplete your health. We recommend doing your own research into the differences between organic and non-organic produce, there has been a lot of ‘anti-marketing’ (from pesticide producers) aimed at organic as it is slightly more expensive. But, how much do you value your health – drinking just 10ml (two teaspoons) of glyphosate containing pesticides is lethal.
