5 Caffeine Alternatives for a Healthy Body

5 Caffeine Alternatives That Are Actually Good for You

When changing their diets, many can’t imagine their mornings without a cup of joe at the start of their day. Consuming caffeine has become a normalized addiction, but it isn’t for everyone.

Research has linked consuming caffeine to improved short-term memory, concentration, and increased energy levels. But the high caffeine dose in each serving, about 95 mg, could give some the “jitters.” Too much caffeine is linked to high blood pressure, IBS, high blood sugar, and even reduced bone density. Experts warn that “caffeine withdrawal” is a real syndrome that could put your health at risk.

Caffeine works by binding to adenosine, a neurotransmitter that delivers messages between neurons. The more activity in your brain, the more adenosine is released. When too much adenosine is created, you experience fatigue. Caffeine binds to adenosine receptors, blocking their ability to tell us we are tired. It could also affect other neurotransmitters such as dopamine, increasing its feel-good effects.

The degree to which caffeine affects some more than others varies drastically. Some people may need triple the amount of caffeine that someone else consumes to feel the same effects, meanwhile, others are hypersensitive and would suffer from insomnia after small amounts.

Research shows that the more caffeine you consume, the higher your tolerance will become. The daily dose for those with normal caffeine sensitivity levels could be between 200 to 400 mg per day. One 8 oz cup of coffee contains between 70–140 mg. Experts warn of consuming more than 600 mg per day. Cutting consumption is the best option! Caffeine is a stimulant, and while many consume it for short-term energy, it can still affect your health. Your nutrient absorption, mood, brain chemistry, and weight can become compromised. Maybe it’s time to change up your daily routine.

Here are 5 natural alternatives to caffeine that deliver the same sought-after boost so you can wake up energized without coffee.

1. Herbal Teas

Fortunately, most herbal teas are caffeine-free and contain a multitude of health benefits.

Dr. Sebi’s Herbal Energy Tea is a caffeine-free performance booster aimed at increasing your energy levels naturally. Our tea harnesses the nutritional powers of muicle (Justicia spicigera), an ancient traditional medicine used in Mexico and Central America.

It's been used since pre-Colombian times to treat conditions such as diabetes, dysentery, anemia, and even leukemia. The plant is rich in minerals and components that nourish and oxygenate the blood while lowering blood sugar levels. It is also used as a natural anti-depressant for its motivating effects.

2. Water

Spring water is a great energy booster that can flush out toxins from your system, aiding in the treatment of many conditions. Hydrating with a gallon of spring water every day can deliver energizing effects — without the harmful caffeine-related side effects.

3. Hot Key Lime Water

Hot key lime water is known for its health properties when consumed before eating or drinking. It improves digestion, reduces heartburn, detoxifies the liver, and works to balance the body’s natural pH levels. One of the simplest ways to energize your morning is with a glass of hot Key Lime water after waking up.

4. Nuts and Seeds

Nuts like walnuts and Brazil nuts are packed with high levels of energy-enhancing nutrients. They are a rich source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. In addition to providing the body with a lot of energy, they can also protect your heart health. Walnuts are another healthy source of energy. Their richness in fiber, antioxidants, and minerals makes them an excellent choice for a quick energy-raising snack.

Try incorporating sesame seeds into your diet for their long list of beneficial uses. Their high content of fiber can help your digestive system, and they may aid in reducing high cholesterol levels. Their high plant-protein content — 5 grams per 3 tablespoons — will supply your body with the revitalizing energy you need without caffeine.

5. Smoothies

Natural smoothies are another great alternative to caffeinated drinks. Reaping the benefits of fresh fruits will enhance your performance throughout the day while providing your body with essential nutrition. Try this delicious energy-enhancing smoothie!

Is there a way to follow Dr. Sebi’s lifestyle without nuts. Is there another healthy alternative you would advise.
