7 tips for healthy aging

7 Tips for Healthy Aging

Though the so-called fountain of youth has been proven to be a myth, a healthy life can do wonders for anybody! By staying healthy, you may prevent the development of many ailments that can affect people as they age, ensuring healthy aging.

But, you may wonder, what is healthy aging? Well, it is no secret that we all want to stay healthy and strong as we age, and aging healthy means aging without having to deal with many developing medical issues that can alter our quality of life. Therefore, it is crucial to follow certain tips that can allow us to maintain good health.

Here are seven healthy aging tips to help improve your quality of life. These tips involve hydrating and nourishing your body, getting adequate sleep, taking care of your skin, and of course, moving your body! There is no youth elixir to allow us to stay young forever, but there are certainly key lifestyle habits that can enable us to enjoy a healthy life for many years to come!

#1 Quality Sleep

One of the most important things you can do for healthy aging is to make sure you get the right amount of sleep. The National Sleep Foundation recommends that adults over 65 should be getting between seven and eight hours of sleep every night. Good quality of sleep is absolutely crucial to ensure healthy aging. As you age, you might start to notice that you’re sleeping earlier in the evening and waking up earlier in the morning. This is not a problem as long as you hit your sleep goal of seven to eight hours.

Experiencing any sleep problems that interrupt your nightly rest, such as chronic or acute insomnia, should not be ignored. Instead, get to the root of the problem and find the best solutions to get you back to snoozing without an issue. However, getting good sleep to maintain your health isn’t the only reason to catch some zzzs. You also must ensure you’re getting proper rest to maintain your appearance. Not only does lack of sleep make you look older, but it may affect your ability to deal with stress, which can age the body.

#2 Drink Plenty of Water

Water is the sustenance our bodies need to perform many tasks in our everyday life. So whether you’re hitting the gym, resting on a hot day, or enjoying a tasty meal, drinking water is key. Drinking plenty of water can ensure healthy aging for anyone. This is because upping your water intake can help keep your bowel movements regular, as well as improve energy levels and brain function. Water has also been shown to boost anti-aging properties in the skin, as it helps keep skin healthier and reduces signs of aging.

It is essential to drink an adequate amount of water every day. Always aim to drink one gallon of natural spring water per day. To make sure you always drink enough water, whether at home, at work, at the gym and more, do the following: carry a reusable water bottle wherever you go, have a glass of water before each meal, add tasty fruit to your water for an added surge of flavor, and set a daily water goal with a friend for friendly competition.

#3 Exercise Regularly

Working up a sweat is one of the most important things you can do to ensure healthy aging. Exercising regularly can help better your balance, keep you mobile, improve cognitive functioning, and even combat feelings of anxiety and depression. Also, exercise can be crucial in managing certain chronic diseases, like diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, breast, and colon cancer.

If you can only hit the gym three days per week or can only squeeze in 15 minutes of exercise at home, that’s okay too!  As long as you’re doing some form of movement that gets your heart rate up, it is better than none. According to the CDC, You should aim for 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity (such as swimming or going for a walk) each week, which can further be broken down to 30 minutes a day for five days a week.

Physical Activities to Get Your Exercise in:

  • Yoga
  • Walking or hiking
  • Sports like basketball or tennis
  • Muscle-strengthening activities, such as using weight machines, hand-held weights, or even body-strength exercises such as pull-ups and push-ups

#4 Enjoy a Healthy Diet

Another crucial element to ensuring healthy aging is maintaining a healthy diet. The CDC recommends a good diet for healthy functioning throughout life. Make sure you’re getting enough fruits, vegetables, and of course, water. Maintaining a nourishing, balanced diet can have vital anti-aging benefits. Unfortunately, weight gain is inevitable when leading a life with poor diet habits. This weight gain can age you and, unfortunately, make you look years older.

Some ways to better your diet include adding more vegetables into your meals, packing your own lunches when it comes to a typical work day, and snacking smarter, such as switching out chips and candy for cucumber and sweet, refreshing fruit. A healthy diet doesn’t have to be boring, and the benefits of aging healthy are very promising!

#5 Avoid Damaging Habits

It’s no secret that some habits in our life may do more harm than good. Fortunately, cutting them out or avoiding other damaging habits can benefit the healthy aging process. Some detrimental habits you may want to quit as soon as possible include:

The study emphasized the notion that men who were heavy drinkers were up to 36% more likely to develop earlobe creases than light or moderate drinkers. In addition, a fourth aging factor, male-pattern baldness, was found to appear more often due to genetics. However, all the non-genetic signs of aging were accelerated and more explicitly apparent in men who consumed alcohol.

Overall, you must kick the habits of smoking and drinking. As far as healthy aging tips go, you’ll never want to hold onto any smoking or drinking habits. For the sake of your quality of life and the chance to spend more time with your loved ones, kick smoking or drinking to the curb! You will find the benefits to be many, including a less aged appearance.

#6 Adopt a Good Skin Care Regimen

Believe it or not, one of the healthy aging tips many men skip over is the tip to adopt a good skin routine. A defined skin care regimen that uses excellent products can help your skin maintain a youthful appearance.

The first step to embarking on a good skin care regimen is to stop using whatever soap is in your shower on your face. One quick scrub with random body soap will not keep your skin looking youthful.

Instead, you want a skin care regimen that can cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate, and offer protection for your skin. Men’s skin is thicker, has a higher concentration of blood vessels, and more facial hair, among other telltale factors. Because of this, men must have specific skincare regimens to address these unique needs and keep their skin healthy.

Highlights of a good skin care regimen include:

  • Wash your face twice a day, once in the morning and night, as well as after working out to keep your face clean.
  • Make sure to use lukewarm water and a facial cleanser to cleanse your skin without stripping its moisture.
  • Keep an eye out for cleansers that contain glycolic acid because this ingredient helps remove dead skin cells, brighten dull skin, and allows any excess sebum (an oily wax substance produced in the skin) to be washed away.
  • Make sure to use an exfoliator to remove dead skin and unclog pores. Use an exfoliator with fine grains that won’t scratch or irritate the skin.

A robust anti-aging skincare routine wouldn’t be complete without a moisturizer. Keep skin hydrated, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and support skin’s ability to stay firm and elastic with moisturizer. Moisturizer protects from free radicals, which are environmental components that can affect our cellular DNA and cause the skin to appear discolored, dry, wrinkled, and saggy.

If you want to fortify your skincare regimen with anti-aging in mind, a good anti-aging cream can do wonders! Many anti-aging creams are formulated with key ingredients that can help keep skin protected, nourished, and firm.

#7 Protect Yourself From the Sun

We all love to bask in the sun's warmth every once in a while, but limiting ourselves from overexposure to the sun when it comes to keeping a healthy aging lifestyle is important. Tanning beds and repeated exposure to the sun can penetrate your skin with UV rays. In addition, UV rays can damage the DNA in your skin cells, causing wrinkles to form. Therefore, you must limit sun exposure to ensure your skin stays protected and damage-free, allowing for a youthful appearance.

Ways to keep yourself protected from the sun include:

  • Wear a hat while outside
  • Use an umbrella while outside
  • Wear sunglasses outside that filter UV light
  • Avoid the sun during the time where it is the strongest, which is between 10 am and 3 pm (even if you can’t avoid the sun, just make sure to bundle up in protective clothing and a hat!)

Dr. Sebi’s Viento for Physical and Mental Stamina

Promoting a healthy anti-aging process doesn’t have to be complicated. Dr. Sebi’s Viento can be a much-needed boost to your healthy aging routine. It keeps you feeling good and doing good without accelerating the aging process.

This product contains chaparral, an herb that grows in the country's western deserts. Chaparral has been found to possess anti-inflammatory properties and, as a tea, has been used for gallbladder and kidney stone problems. This ingredient may also be linked to anti-cancer properties and has been used for the common cold, digestive issues, and diabetes.

Use Dr. Sebi’s Viento to boost physical and mental vitality, which is key to a healthy lifestyle. This product is energizing, cleansing, and revitalizing. These iron-rich capsules can improve circulation and oxygenation in the body, while chaparral supports lymphatic waste removal and expelling heavy metals that can drain energy in the body.

Use this product to combat inflammatory damage, improve your immune defenses, and reduce addictive and damaging cravings. Dr. Sebi’s Viento also contains bladderwrack, which cleanses bromides and boosts thyroid function while regulating energy and reducing your appetite.

Stress can get in the way of healthy aging, but luckily, this product contains valeriana and Hierba del Sapo to improve circulation while easing stress. Other invigorating herbs help support the body’s natural energy efficiency, boosting emotional stability and mental clarity in the process!

The above tips should help you continue the process of healthy aging, ensuring your health doesn’t decline with age. Of course, a little help never hurts either. Boost your physical and mental performance with Dr. Sebi's Viento and live a life of strength and vitality today.
